Melbourne Bride Magazine Snapshots Article

"As a photojournalist I place a strong emphasis on quick, documentary style shooting, and to me digital photography is all about freedom and choice for myself as well as my clients. Modern digital cameras and lenses have enabled me to shoot weddings very informally by being immersed in the crowd so in most cases no one is aware of the camera. My equipment is all handheld with on-camera flashes so I have no need for bulky tripods or additional indoor lighting.
As someone who grew up with film based cameras and learnt the art of photography within the film era, I find the development of digital processing to be liberating and a breath of fresh air. Digital technology means I can now be involved with not just taking the photographs, but also owning the entire lifecycle of processing, editing, enhancing and archiving the digital material.
When I'm photographing a large event, in particular a wedding where there is constant movement, changes in lighting and subjects, I know that the fact I'm shooting with the best digital cameras available means I can produce beautiful images from any mix of situations. At a wedding this means many shots of guests, children, surrounding landscape and much more which add to the atmosphere and story of the event." |
